Really, who wants to read anymore? So we figured we would put together some videos to get you hyped before your appointment, or to keep you interested between appointments. Take a peak at all of the edits that Mike's Bone Out Productions and friends of Lakeside have put together for your viewing pleasure.

Lakeside Coach, Connor Kostyra, Throwing Down

Many of you had the chance to be coached by Connor this year. Take a peak at some of the wakeboarding tricks he put down this year riding behind his own boat on Candlewood.

This edit was put together by Lakeside's very own Will Nicolini. Keeping it all in the family.

Keenan Flegel is the Man

Lakeside Watersports invited World Champion Wakesurfer Keenan Flegel to Candlewood Lake on 7/11/17 for a two-part wakesurf clinic. Check out some of the footage from the riders who participated and stay tuned to watch Keenan throw down behind our boat at the end of this video. We have a lot more footage, so don't be surprised if you see more of Keenan surfing in future edits.

Wake the World: Connecticut Edition

After stumbling across the Wake the World Organization while looking through Wakeworld Magazine last year, and we knew this would be a great way to give back to our community right here on Candlewood Lake. We connected with Wake the World, and they were excited that Lakeside Watersports was willing to offer the first opportunity in Connecticut for underserved members of the community to enjoy time on the water.

Take a look at the edit, Lakeside employee, William Nicolini, put together detailing the first ever Wake the World event in Connecticut that was held on June 30th.

Special thank you to the team at Danbury Youth & Family Services for making this event possible.

The archives

Here are some Lakeside Watersports videos from year's past. Take a walk down memory lane with these ones.

Doing Our Thing - Lakeside Watersports 2016

Every year we push ourselves to find creative ways to highlight the awesome experiences that we provide on Candlewood Lake in Danbury, CT. This year we decided to take it to the skies. With the help of Vinny from Flying Films NY, we were able to capture a bird's eye view of what it looks like to drop the boats in and to get out riding for the first time this season. Shout out to the Lakeside staff for braving a chilly morning, the footage was totally worth it.

Lakeside Hits Atlanta

Keeping with tradition, once we have coiled our last rope and put away the final wakeboard for the season in CT, we look for a new place to go ride. This year, for a number of reasons, we chose Atlanta over Columbus Day Weekend. The main reason being Terminus Wake Park. Two full cable systems and a System 2.0. We had an awesome day hitting sliders and kickers. Check out the footage here. Keep watching, you also might see some of our other talents that involve late night golfing. Where do you think we should go next year?

Out of the Driver’s Seat with Ryan Dunn

We wouldn't be anywhere without the help of our incredible staff. They are the ones who make your time out on the water so memorable. We wanted to take a few minutes and highlight some of our team that have shown a true commitment to the sport and a passion for Candlewood Lake. Take some time and check out the unbelievable riding from Lakeside Driver, Ryan Dunn. He is also a founding member of the 1st Annual Candlewood Cup Wakeboard and Wakesurf Competition that took place this summer. The other cool part about this video is that it was shot and edited by our very own Mason Geils. This video is a true local edit and we are proud to say that we work alongside these guys just about every day of the summer. Let us know what you think, or drop us a line if you want to learn to ride like Ryan.

Meet the New Guy

As a lot of our customers have grown accustomed to, we work really hard to make sure that we have the latest and greatest equipment available to you each season. This year is no different. Here's a sneak peak at the brand new Axis A20 boat that we took delivery on last weekend. This one is completely custom designed and we think you'll agree that this one is a real showstopper. We are still working on coming up with a name for this one. Any suggestions? Huge shoutout to our friends and partners at Axis Wake Research and Lake Hopatcong Marine. This one might be our favorite. Shhh...don't let the other boats know that though. Book your appointment HERE.

At most places, Friday means Payday. At Lakeside, Friday means Sprayday! This year we produced a weekly Instagram series entitled #SPRAYDAY. It gave us the opportunity to hop in the water to test out that waterproof housing on the GoPro and whip some water right at the lens. Here is a mashup of all 10 #SPRAYDAY videos we posted during Summer 2015. Check them out in sequence. This mashup features the sprayday stylings of Lakeside Owners, Mike and Chris, Lakeside current and former employees and the one and only Josh Bank, who threw down for our Lakeside Living video. If you haven't started following us on Instagram, we suggest you get on that. Otherwise, you're missing out on all of our Lakeside adventures. We keep the fun flowing all year long.

Here We Go – 2015

You asked and we listened. Over the last few years, we have heard your cries for more availability to get out on Candlewood Lake. As we move into our 5th year, we are proud to announce that we will be providing more availability for you to get on our schedule. We will be accomplishing this with the addition of a second brand new Axis A20.  We have chosen to add another identical boat to the fleet, due to their reliability and cross-over appeal. We couldn't have gotten to this point without the help of some very important people. First and foremost, we need to thank our families. They have been our biggest support system over all of these years. We also want to thank the team at Candlewood East Marina, they were the ones who helped get us started, Lake Hopatcong Marine in NJ who continue to help us get top-notch boats, and of course Craig at Pocono Point Marina, our home base, we truly appreciate your partnerships. This video edit is a thank you to anyone has been a part of Lakeside Watersports and all of the loyal customers who have stood by us from the beginning, we are very excited to provide more watersports availability and we can't wait to spend more time on the water together. -Chris & Mike

Teaser Tuesday – Winter 2014-2015

We have been busy hitting the slopes and the rinks around New England this winter.  Here's a quick teaser video of a full edit that will be dropping soon. Stay tuned to see the entire edit showing all of the fun we had in the snow this year, but for now wet your whistle with this 15 second hit.

Trick Tip Tuesdays – 7/22/14 – Heelside Backroll

It's been awhile since we have released a Trick Tip Tuesday video.  So we are bringing you a fresh one this week.  Presenting the Heelside Backroll. This is one of the first inverts that people learn once they have mastered the basics of riding and jumping the wake.  Take a look and see how Chris from Lakeside Watersports breaks down the trick into Approach, Takeoff, Maneuver, and Landing. Want to actually try this trick and put it down on water? Make an appointment with us HERE.

Introducing “Darth Vapor”

We couldn't be more excited for the 2014 summer season. To help us bring you the best watersports experience possible, we have a new addition to the Lakeside Watersports family. His name is "Darth Vapor."  Let's introduce him.  He's 20 feet long, he's got a big engine; and best of all, he's nice and shiny. This video lets you take a closer look at the boat's features inside and out; but if you're looking for the full experience, Click Here to book a session today.   How did we come up with the name "Darth Vapor?" First off, the boat looks like it could be from outer space, which is pretty darn cool, if you ask us.  But beyond that, the blue color on the boat is actually called Vapor Blue. When Chris and Mike were brainstorming boat names, this one just rolled off the tongue so nicely, and it stuck. Leave a comment and let us know what you think of the boat and its name.

Outdoor Enthusiast: Lakeside Watersports

Calling all Outdoor Enthusiasts! Earlier this summer we welcomed the crew from the CPBN Media Lab to Lakeside Watersports (That's the Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network for our out-of-state friends).  They wanted to experience watersports on Candlewood Lake, we were happy to oblige.  Here's the video they put together recapping their time on the water...You never know what's going to happen next.

Trick Tip Tuesdays – 7/30/13 – Dock Start

We just polished off another Trick Tip Tuesday Video. Check out how Mike from Lakeside Watersports breaks down the proper technique for executing a Dock Start on a Wakeboard.  Make sure you watch all the way to the end, you might even see a Dock Finish.

Lakeside Living Leftovers

For the one-year anniversary of filming our promotional video, "Lakeside Living," we are pleased to present "Lakeside Living Leftovers." We had so much footage from our two-day shoot on Candlewood that we could not fit it all into one video! Enjoy the second helping!

Business Trip to SURF EXPO

Chris, Mike and Matty from Lakeside took a little vacation/business trip down to Orlando to check out SURF EXPO. For those of you who haven't heard of SURF EXPO, it is basically the mecca of all things watersports.  It's a huge trade show where manufacturers show off all the new products for the year ahead.  Everything from boat companies to wakeboard and waterski manufacturers, even watersports apparel companies show off their newest innovations. We got lucky, during the weekend we were at the show, there was also a professional waterski competition going on at Lake Eola in downtown Orlando.  Check out the video to see the top pros slalom through the course and hit the competition ski jump.

Watch Our Short Film, ‘Lakeside Living’

We decided to shoot a promotional video for Lakeside as we headed into our second season.  You could say it got a little out of hand...  Pro wakeboarders, slalom skiing, paddlesurfing, cliff jumping and helicopters.  Yes, helicopters.  Our promotional video really morphed into a short film.  Here is the final edit of what we call "Lakeside Living." We did our best to make the filming of "Lakeside Living" a community event.  It features riding from our sponsored athletes, original music by local artist, "Nonymous," just about every one of our friends, and was filmed and edited by a local up-and-coming studio.  This video is one of the things we are most proud of as a team at Lakeside.  We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

One Sunny Morning

Lakeside Watersports Owner, Mike Rambone, out for a morning wakeboard session on Candlewood Lake. All footage captured by a chest-mounted GoPro Hero camera.  Woohoo!

The Choice is Yours

Bluesteel's video debut! This was a little edit we put together to show all of the watersports we offer here at Lakeside. "You can get with this, or you can get with that...'Cause this is where it's at!" Leave a comment, and tell us what is your favorite watersport?

Candlewood Cup 2016

So we have toyed around with the idea of bringing a contest back to Candlewood Lake for years now, but we just didn't have the time to bring it to life the way that it deserved. Enter Lakeside Employee, Ryan Dunn, and Lakeside Customer, Anne Goodnow. The two of them saw the opportunity and made it happen this August with the first Annual Wakeboard and Wakesurf Competition on Candlewood Lake. This INT League Contest had competitors of all ages and abilities levels. Check out some of the highlights of the tricks that we stomped. Special shout out to Lakeside Driver, Connor Kostyra who took first place in the Advanced Men's Wakeboard division. Stay tuned for what this contest will look like next year. We've heard rumblings of some big plans in the works.

Pass The Handle

Sunday, July 24th, 2016 is National #PassTheHandle Day. This annual tradition is designed to spread the excitement of watersports between friends and family. This holiday is a perfect opportunity to try something new. Come celebrate with us! Check out this fun video that our customers helped us shoot. Do you recognize anyone familiar?

Lakeside Hits South Beach

Once the summer season has come to a close and the boats are all wrapped up, the Lakeside Team usually takes a trip; for a couple of reasons. One, to go experience watersports in other parts of the country. And two, to blow off some steam and have some fun. This year, we waited a little too long to plan our trip, so we had to head for warmer weather down south, like way south. Miami to be exact. This weekend trip turned out to be a full-fledged Lakeside adventure, including a re-direction through Chicago, lost luggage, pouring rain, and even being trapped in an elevator. Even with all of those obstacles, we found a way to get out on the wakeboard on the cable at Miami Watersports Complex, which was the main goal of the entire trip. Where there is a will there is a way. Take a peak at the video to see the "highlights" from this wild 2 day trip.

Wakesurf Double Surf Gate

So now that we have two boats, we started thinking about the possibility of having more than one person Wakesurf at once.  Naturally, we wanted to try to make a halfpipe surf wave. Thanks to the Surf Gate technology developed by Malibu Boats, we were able to create a monster wave that two people can surf at once.  Here is a little video edit from our early morning wakesurf set. This one's for you Surf Team Six. Come test out the wakesurf wave for yourself by booking an appointment HERE.

Teaser Tuesday – Summer 2015

It's Tuesday, and summer is fast approaching. Finally the weather has turned and the boats are starting to be dropped into the water. Check out this video to get a glimpse of what is in store for the 2015 Lakeside Watersports season. All will be revealed 5/22/15. #summeriscoming

Lakeside Watersports Winter Adventures

We don't just ride in the summertime. As soon as there is snow on the ground, it is time for us to switch into winter sports mode. Check out this video that showcases some of the fun we had during the off season. Including, snowboarding, ice skating, snowmobiling, gondola riding and so much more.  We had some fun during this winter, but we cannot wait for summer 2015 on Candlewood Lake. What winter sports did you do this year?

Trick Tip Tuesdays – 8/19/14 – Toes on the Nose

So for our next trick, Mike will be performing Toes on the Nose on ... a wakeboard? Yes, you read that right. A wakeboard. Toes on the Nose is usually reserved for big-wave long-board surfers, so it's pretty cool that works on the wakeboard too. This trick actually has you starting with your feet out of the bindings and you slowly make your way to the nose of the board. As Mike will explain, we have no idea why or how this works, it just does. Since usually we tell all of of you to focus on keeping your weight back while wakeboarding, it is a pretty remarkable thing that you can actually ride the board with your toes hanging over the nose. Check out the video and impress your friends with this trick the next time you're on the water. Want to give this party trick a try? Book and appointment with us HERE.

Memorial Day Weekend 2014

We had so much fun over Memorial Day weekend this year, we decided to make a video about it. On Saturday, May 24th, we were asked to be guest judges for the annual Rail Jam at Brownstone Wake Park in Portland, CT. The rail was under construction this year, so it turned in to Jump Jam 2014. It was great to see some local talent throwing down big tricks on the cable. Special congratulations go to Olivia Pease, for putting down a super clean run in the finals and winning the whole competition. On Memorial Monday, before Darth Vapor went in the water for good, we had the honor of participating in Danbury's Memorial Day Parade for the third consecutive year. This is one of our favorite events of the year, and it's the perfect way to kick off the season. Let's keep the good vibes going.

Lakeside Staff Edit 2013

Lakeside would not have been able to function this summer without the help of some pretty incredible people. Thank you so much for all the hard work, Kyle, Mason, Nicole, Nick and all the other folks who stepped up in a pinch!  You all truly made this the best season to date. Although we are super busy in the summer months, we never miss out on an opportunity to have some fun. Check out the Lakeside staff doing what they do best during some (rare) down time!

Lakeside Talks Surf Gate

Surf's Up! We know you've heard the hype, but maybe you still don't quite understand how the whole things works...We're hoping to change that. Listen in as Mike from Lakeside Watersports talks about Malibu's Surf Gate system on our 2013 VTX. This revolutionary innovation has made wakesurfing easier and faster for our customers.  We can make the perfect wave for wakesurfing in less than 3 minutes, compared to the old days, which would take 15 minutes or more.  Mike breaks down the innovation, shows how it works in real time and then he shows off some tricks that are possible with this awesome wave. If you want to see it in action for yourself, Click HERE to book a lesson.

Trick Tip Tuesdays – 7/2/2013 – Heelside Front Flip

It's Tuesday! Aren't you excited? No? Well you should be, because it's Trick Tip Tuesday here at Lakeside. For our first installment of this recurring set of instructional videos, Kyle Kolbig takes center stage and breaks down how to stomp a heelside front flip on the wakeboard. Take his advice, and then come out and try it behind our boat.  Book you lesson Here! Check back throughout the summer to watch more of these mini-instructional videos on all different kinds of watersports.

New Steel

Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to our beloved 2011 Axis A20, dubbed "Bluesteel" at the end of last season. As sad as that was, it means you get to enjoy a new boat with all the bells and whistles this year. We are proud to introduce you to "New Steel," our brand-new, custom-designed 2013 Malibu VTX. This video is designed to give you an idea of what features the new boat has to offer; but trust us, you need to come check it out for yourself.

Brownstone Comes To Lakeside

Our friends from Brownstone Wake Park came down from Portland, CT for some fun behind the boat. Check out the wakeboarding skills that these guys were showing off all over Candlewood.

Lakeside Living Teaser

Just a tease of our short film entitled, "Lakeside Living." All we have to say is get prepared to be wowed!

Lakeside’s New Team Rider!

Lakeside Watersports is happy to announce our sponsorship of local wakeboarder, Kyle Kolbig. Check out some scenes from a day on Candlewood Lake with Kyle. Be sure to look for him at Brownstone Adventure Park this summer!

Welcome to Lakeside Watersports

This is the first video we ever made while we were deciding to bring Lakeside to Candlewood Lake back in 2011. We have come a long way from these humble beginnings, but it's always fun to look back at where you've come from. This video holds a special place in our hearts.  It's a little dramatic, but we love it just the same. Thanks to our friends in Florida and Maine for the quality riding, and to iMovie for making video editing a breeze. Haha.

Smalltown Girls Dominate at System 2.0 Railjam

The article that ran in The Hartford Courant was picked up by

Lakeside has been a longtime supporter of Alliance Wakeboard Magazine. Lakeside Watersports is actually listed as the only Wakeboarding Camp and School in CT in the back of their magazine. If you aren’t a subscriber, we would highly recommend it. We are stoked that the editors at Alliance Wakeboard Magazine took some time to write a feature on the Rail Jam that took place at our local Brownstone Wake Park back in May.

Local Lakeside Watersports Offers Boating Activities

by Linda Zukauskas

Published – VOICES The Newspaper

DANBURY — Now people enjoying “staycations” can experience watersports as if they’re visiting the Caribbean, thanks to Chris Nuelle and Mike Rambone.

The young men started their own business, Lakeside Watersports, in 2011 based on their experiences with the various sports and their formal education backgrounds.

Having met at Newtown High School, they attended the University of Connecticut together, where Mr. Nuelle studied entrepreneurship and Mr. Rambone worked toward becoming a teacher.

“I have an indoor classroom in the winter and an outdoor classroom in the summer,” Mr. Rambone told Voices.

The two noted that, unless a person owns a boat or has a friend with a boat, it’s often too expensive to enjoy watersports. Their goal is to make these activities affordable and enjoyable.

With an office at Pocono Point Marina, 16 Forty Acre Mountain Rd., and a 20-foot Axis A20 boat that seats 11 people, Lakeside Watersports had 200 customers in its inaugural year and, in its second season, is well ahead of that number.

Mr. Nuelle said, “We’ve met a lot of cool people and taught those as young as 4 and as old as 90.”

When teaching children or adults, who may be a little uncomfortable, one of the men is happy to jump into the water.

“We offer personal instruction in the water,

which is unique,” Mr. Rambone said. “Another special thing about us is that we don’t focus on one watersport.”
Lakeside Watersports offers water-skiing, slalom skiing, wake-skating, wake-surfing, wakeboarding, knee boarding and tubing.

“We’re super flexible,” Mr. Nuelle noted. “It’s your block of time and if you want to get pulled along in a tube or just go for a boat ride, it’s up to you.

“With us in the boat, you can bring nine of your family or friends. We’ve done birthday parties.”

Lakeside Watersports is open seven days a week in the summer and both owners like to stretch the season as long as they can. “The water stays warm; right now it’s 80 to 85 degrees and there are no sharks or jellyfish.” Mr. Nuelle said that anyone just needs to schedule an appointment, which can be done online.

“Everything is included in the price, all equipment, the driver, and the spotter.” Mr. Rambone said some people like to come down alone to practice a particular sport.

Mr. Nuelle described his experience with his business, “I didn’t expect to find this so rewarding. It’s really exciting to get someone up out of the water onto skis or a board for the first time.”

With a combination of skill and experience, the men can make that first try at a watersport a joy. “We know people who got dragged behind a boat by their dad and are really not eager to try it again.”

They have done house calls, visiting homes on the lake and even using the resident’s boat to instruct a family tired of yelling at one another. “We joke we’re cheaper than a divorce.” Mr. Rambone said, “We do it right the first time. We can adjust the rope length to make getting up easier and the boat is the right size with a tower to get a better angle to pull you out of the water.

His partner added, “We know how to drive, too, whether someone wants to get out of the water gradually or pop out. We use the boat the right way and that definitely helps.”

Both Mr. Nuelle and Mr. Rambone are licensed boaters, with thousands of hours on Candlewood Lake. Mr. Nuelle is a former lifeguard and Mr. Rambone has EMT training.

“We have top of the line safety equipment, with the proper fit. We also explain why safety is important.” Customer Linda Tarry-Chard drives from Manhattan regularly to slalom ski. “

[Mr. Nuelle and Mr. Rambone] are very professional and they make it fun.

“They push me, but not to the brink where I don’t want to do this anymore. It’s a very wonderful experience.”

Anyone who would like more information can call 203-744-9884, visit or follow the fun on Twitter and Facebook.

“We like to use social media to follow up with customers, to let them know we’re still thinking about a lesson, or show the current lake conditions,” Mr. Nuelle said.

“It’s a cool feeling, gliding on something you normally can’t stand on,” Mr. Rambone said of the watersport experience. “We’re here to make a memorable day, something you’ll tell your family and friends.

“We’ve had several students from Europe visiting Connecticut. It’s something different and fun to do and the lake is a beautiful backdrop.”

Lakeside Featured in Danbury News Times

The News Times of Danbury, Connecticut just ran an article on Lakeside Watersports!

The story profiles Lakeside and owners Mike and Chris, and features a few words from one of our customers who accompanied her son and husband on an afternoon lesson. She had this to say:

“I didn’t have any plans on doing anything, but they (the staff) were so enthusiastic. My husband and I went out on the tube.”

“It was really, really fun. I would highly recommend it to anyone,” she said. “They were very safe. They gave very good instructions on what we had to do, and they’re really, really knowledgeable and very professional.”
