A note from the crew: Lakeside Watersports is not running charters, lessons, or boat activities for the 2026 season. This page stays up as part of our lake story. Living on the lake is our business now: Candlewood Lake real estate with Connor Kostyra, RE/MAX Rise.

Waterskiing Lessons on Candlewood Lake

The original watersport, taught the patient way. Two skis, a steady MasterCraft pull, and a crew that's talked more first-timers up out of the water than we can count.

What a waterskiing lesson was

First time or lifelong skier, we'll match the pull to you.

No obligation. We'll confirm by text or email.

What it is

The classic that started it all.

Waterskiing puts one foot on each ski and a rope in your hands while the boat gently lifts you to the surface. It's the sport your parents and grandparents grew up on, and it's still the most satisfying way to learn to stand up on the water. The pull is smooth and predictable, which makes it a fantastic first watersport for kids, nervous adults, and anyone who wants that timeless up-on-two-skis feeling. Candlewood Lake's long, open stretches give us room to keep the line straight and the wake low while you find your balance. New to all of this? Perfect, beginners are exactly who we love putting on skis.

How your waterskiing lesson works.

Four calm steps from the dock to your first run.

1 · Dry-land setup. We fit your skis and vest and walk through the start position on the swim platform before you ever get wet.
2 · The float. You settle into the water in a tuck, ski tips up, knees to chest, arms relaxed on the handle. We double-check your position.
3 · The gentle pull. The MasterCraft eases forward and lifts you up, no yank, no rush. Let the boat do the standing for you.
4 · Glide and repeat. Once you're up, we hold a steady speed so you can enjoy it, then reset and go again to lock it in.

Why Lakeside

Patience is the whole game.

A local crew

Candlewood is our home water. We know where the lake lies flattest early in the day, the smooth surface that makes a first ski run feel effortless.

MasterCraft pull

A ski-worthy boat with a smooth, controllable throttle. The pull is everything when you're learning, and ours is built to be gentle and steady.

Safety-first coaching

Coast Guard-style vests, a dedicated spotter, and clear hand signals. If wind or chop rolls in, we'll reschedule rather than push it.

Good to know

Waterskiing questions, answered.

Is waterskiing hard to learn as an adult?

Not with the right start. Two skis, a good pull, and simple cues, knees bent, arms straight, let the boat lift you, get most adults skiing in a session or two. We keep the speed patient and build your confidence run by run.

What age can kids start waterskiing on Candlewood Lake?

Kids who are comfortable swimming in a life vest and can hold the handle are usually ready to try. We use a slow, steady pull and plenty of encouragement, so young skiers stay relaxed and have fun. All skill levels are welcome.

Do you provide skis and life vests for the lesson?

Yes. We bring the combo skis, tow rope, and properly-fitted life vests, plus the MasterCraft to pull you. Just bring a swimsuit, sunscreen, and a towel.
