What a wakeboarding lesson was

Riding the wake, made simple.
Wakeboarding is you, a board strapped to both feet, and a boat pulling you across the surface so you can carve, cut, and eventually launch off the wake. It looks technical from the dock, but the fundamentals click fast with the right coaching. On Candlewood Lake we've got wide-open water and glassy morning coves that make learning feel natural instead of intimidating. Kids, parents, first-dates, bachelor parties, if you can hold a handle, we'll get you riding. Beginners are genuinely welcome here; most of our sessions start with someone who's never touched a board.
Everything you need to ride.
The boat & the wake
A MasterCraft wake boat built to throw a clean, shapely wake, plus ballast and speed set to your ability, not a stranger's.
Boards & vests for every size
A range of wakeboards and properly-fitted life vests so your feet, your bindings, and your safety are handled before you hit the water.
Hands-on coaching
We break down the deep-water start on dry land, then talk you up in the water, arms straight, knees in, let the boat do the work.
A spotter, always
Someone's eyes are on you every second you're on the water, signaling the captain and keeping the session safe and relaxed.
Coached by people who ride this lake.
A local crew
We grew up on Candlewood Lake and know exactly which coves stay glassy in the morning, the calm water that makes learning to wakeboard so much easier.
Real wake gear
MasterCraft wake boats, maintained and dialed. The wake shape you learn on actually matters, and ours is built for it.
Safety first, always
Dedicated spotter, proper vests, and a captain who reads conditions. If the lake isn't right, we'll reschedule, no hassle.
Wakeboarding questions, answered.
Can I take a wakeboarding lesson if I've never been on a board?
Absolutely. Most of our riders start as complete beginners. We coach the deep-water start on dry land first, then walk you through it in the water until you pop up and ride. All skill levels are welcome.
What should I bring to a wakeboarding session on Candlewood Lake?
Just a swimsuit, sunscreen, a towel, and water to stay hydrated. We provide the MasterCraft wake boat, boards, life vests, and all the coaching. Bring a friend or two if you want to trade turns.
How long does it usually take to get up on a wakeboard?
Many first-timers are riding within their first session. Our crew reads your body position and dials the boat speed and rope length to your level so you spend more time up and less time swimming.
Wakeboarding at Lakeside, as it really looked.
